Arriving to Dubai

Hi all!
After my experience with the blog "Discovering Asia" I had during my 3 months trip in South-East Asia, I decided to launch this blog about my (our) move to Dubai.

You might think: - "Wow! Dubai! How fancy!"
Well... I invite you to discover it with me.

Why Dubai? Easy: my husband is being transferred to Dubai by his company. Until then, everything is fine. The company will pay for the move, first months rental, everything looks great!

In the other hand, we need to leave the apartment we were calling our "nest" to move to an unknown country, with unknown people and unknown usages. And even if I really like hot weather, I'm not sure I will appreciate the 50° C expected in July! But one step at a time. First things first.

Let me share with you my first impressions of Dubai.

First of all: let's face it, moving to Dubai is an opportunity that comes once in a lifetime. So we took it. We are young, no kids, on our thirties: perfect match!
And we were starting to settle down: planning to stay long-term in our apartment, have kids, and then, TADA, you are stuck in your life. True, right? And I think we are not made for a stuck life.

So here we are, in hot Dubai, searching for an apartment, trying to fill all papers required for work permit, visa.

And here am I... bored! I have to tell, people warned me about it, so I knew it, but still, Dubai, without a job or kids can be very boring. Getting bored can be good: you start thinking about your purpose in life, your friends, what do you want to do. But me, when I'm bored, I eat. Yup, I eat, and I can eat a lot. So I fear I will become fat in a very short term.

So I started a blog. It will keep me busy for a few hours a week. And the rest of the time, I will need to find out what I want to do. But that's not an issue: I have plenty of time to think about it!
